Pop Up Store
On 11–12 July, the capital’s Palace of Peace and Reconciliation will host Astana Pop Up Store for the first time – a new city festival of local designers that will bring fashion, design, gastronomy, music and entrepreneurship together in one place, according to the official website of the city akimat.
Over two days, more than 50 brands from different cities of Kazakhstan will present clothing, accessories, jewellery, interior items, cosmetics, homeware and original projects.
The organisers expect several thousand visitors – residents and guests of the capital interested in local brands and contemporary urban culture.
Astana Pop Up Store was created by the team behind Almaty Pop Up Store, one of the most prominent projects supporting local business and creative industries in Kazakhstan. In recent years the project has become an important platform for Kazakhstani brands, helping them find new customers, test products and enter new markets.
“Today, local brands are shaping a new cultural and economic reality in Kazakhstan. We can see the quality of products, the level of design and entrepreneurial ambition growing. Astana Pop Up Store is being created as a meeting place for these people – brands, customers, partners and everyone who believes in local production,” says the project’s co-founder Madina Aman.
At the design market, guests will find products from local makers of designer clothing and accessories, original jewellery, handmade soap and cosmetics, as well as developments by bio-engineers and product designers – prototypes made from eco-friendly materials such as algae leather and mushroom foam. In addition to the design market, there will be a food zone, special partner projects, a music programme and headliner performances: over two days, Moldanazar, Asiya, Torearyq, Yez and Oyeleye will perform live on the main stage of Astana PopUp Store. The event space will be a place to discover new brands, talk to their creators and find new names on the map of Kazakhstan’s creative industry.
The arrival of Astana Pop Up Store in the capital reflects the growing interest in local production and contemporary Kazakhstani design. The project aims to create a sustainable platform for developing small businesses, promoting local brands and shaping a new urban culture of consumption.
The event will run from 12:00 to 20:00 on 11 and 12 July at the Palace of Peace and Reconciliation.
