The “Astana Opera” Theater, together with the Astana School of Ballet Art “Nutcracker”, presents to young audiences one of the brightest and most unusual works of the classical repertoire — Modest Mussorgsky’s suite “Pictures at an Exhibition”.
The concert, created in the form of a piano suite, is like a musical journey through an imaginary art gallery, where each piece is an independent musical image inspired by the works of artist Viktor Hartmann.
Performed by the chamber orchestra of the “Astana Opera” Theater, Mussorgsky’s music comes alive on stage, while the artistic images and paintings are brought to life by young ballerinas. This synthesis of music and dance allows young viewers to get closer to classical music, develop imaginative thinking, and deeper understand the essence of the work.
The creative team of the theater has been fruitfully collaborating with the “Nutcracker” school for many years. Their joint repertoire includes vibrant projects for children, such as Camille Saint-Saëns’ zoological fantasy “The Carnival of the Animals”, the concert “The Secret of the Antique Grand Piano”, and other programs beloved by young spectators and their parents.
